DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY: STATEMENT OF SUPPORT FOR STRIKING STUDENT WORKERS

The UC-Riverside Philosophy Department fully stands behind our graduate students and supports the demands for fair living Teaching Assistant wages, affordable graduate university housing, and labor equity that the union representing them have made to the UC administration. As the strike is making clear, Teaching Assistants and Graduate Student Researchers are absolutely essential to the core mission of UC.  We implore the UC administration to negotiate in good faith and give their employees – our students, our future colleagues, and critical teachers of the undergraduates at UC -–  what they have long deserved in order to bring the labor strike to a quick end.
